Day 18 – Fire

This is a Native American wedding vase.  I bought it the summer I met Ray.  Because … I knew – he was the one.  I knew we would want this vase.

And want it to be illuminated by fire.

Cool vase and very nice photograph. Did you use the vase at your wedding?

    • Kristen says:

We didn’t use it at our wedding… but i has been on our mantle for years. We also bought a vase for friends of ours who were getting married that fall. (and this was the “spare” :)

What a great shot, Kristen! I really like that the focus is not on the candles but on the object in the foreground. Nice effect. By the way, what is that thing in the foreground? I love the details in it (marble, maybe?).

    ;-)

Psst – It’s actually “Day 18″. No worries, I’ve done it myself.

I love the vase on the left – very beautiful.

  4. I can’t tell you how many of these we have kicking around. Love them all to pieces. Sweet shot.

Fascinating picture. Your fire plays a supporting role in the pic, as it’s out of focus but illuminates that cool vase.

  6. fan-freaking-tastic!

  7. Ziva says:

What a beautiful vase, and how clever to let the fire play a secondary, yet oh so important, role in the photo. Great job!

  8. MikeWJ says:

Beautiful vase, beautiful colors. I love it, Kristen.

    • Kristen says:

Thanks Mike. I can’t wait to have a minute to go through and check everyone else’s photo. Were you the one who lit a bonfire?

  9. Mo says:

While the vase’s shape is interesting in itself, the fire out of focus, reflected off the vase, is really superb :)

  10. Nora Blithe says:

    Simply beautiful!

    • Kristen says:

Thanks Nora! I can’t even tell you how many times I had to shoot that to get it to look remarkably like anything.

  11. mike says:

Nice. That’s a great ambient piece to have around.

  12. Malisa says:

Love the vase, love the story and love the photo! The warm glow of your photo reflects the warm glow you always put in our hearts with your heartfelt words!

  13. Nicky says:

I love that you bought it because you knew he was “the one”. Gorgeous picture, Kristen. Really beautifully lit and angled.
