Day 23 – Fish

It is raining buckets. Buckets.  But, I don’t want to ruin my camera by taking the shot I tried to get: Me walking that dang dog 4 times a day. (1/2 hour each time.) – yes… 2 hours of walking a day.  Mixie and I look and feel like drowned rats.  Instead, I resorted to my models:

The Over processed Three Year Old Fish.  Very Rare. Can be bribed by blowing bubbles.

Day 21 – Moon

Malibu Barbie knew she wanted to walk on the wild side during her bachelor party.  She enlisted Princess Barbie to make sure she sewed all her wild oats.

Mooning a group of little old men waiting for coffee was apparently on her list.

Getting pulled over by the police man also ordering coffee was apparently not.

But, now she can get married with the knowledge she survived jail and lived to tell about it.

ps. the real “moon” wasn’t out last night. I checked before I got creative.

Also known as – I’m still in this challenge. I may have crappy birds, but they are birds.

Day 18 – Fire

This is a Native American wedding vase.  I bought it the summer I met Ray.  Because … I knew – he was the one.  I knew we would want this vase.

And want it to be illuminated by fire.

Day 17 – Time

I wish I had a cool clock. I would take a picture of it. And this 1980 something song by Randy Travis keeps floating around in my head… “Mother Freedom, Father of time…”

But, I have none of those things. Instead, I lose time every day.  I need about 10 more hours a day to get everything I would  like done.

And … I go, go, go – until I drop – exhausted.

When I wake – I find my daughter calling me. From her fake phone. In her rain boots that she put on her self. Because she is a big girl.

Where did the time go?  Just yesterday – she was lying in my arms – a preemie.

Day 16 – Ordinary Things

23 months. And now … this is an ordinary thing.

I couldn’t love it more. I couldn’t be more proud.

Day 15 – Wood

Believe it or not, I was raised around wood.

That sounds so silly.

IMG_1852

Our property had a “woods” in the back, so there were many afternoons of adventure spent exploring the great unknown.  There wasn’t a tree I didn’t try to climb.

My dad had a word working shop and even ran a sawmill business at one point.  When I think of wood, I can feel a smile come to my lips.

I think sawdust. The smell… of fresh cut wood.  The feel… when it is still warm from the blade of a saw or a piece of sandpaper.  I can mentally hear the wiz of a plainer as a piece of wood is slid through.  The only beverage appropriate in a wood shop? Coffee.. Somehow, sawdust doesn’t make coffee taste worse – only better.  It is weird to describe in such vivid detail a boring thing. But, the wood shop brings me comfort.  It is stifling hot. It is dangerous.  It is home.

I fully intended to take a picture of the tree house Ray is building for the kids.  I was going to talk about passing that love down to my kids, but I was walking Mixie and came across this tree.  I was struck by how… regal it looked.  Completely different from anything else.

And with all my fond memories of “wood” – I knew this was the picture I needed to take.  Not the finished product, but the unfinished one.  I wonder if this says anything about the person I’ve become.

Day 14 – 42 : A.K.A. Don’t Stop By

Don’t come over unannounced.  Come over. But – call first. It isn’t that I don’t want to see you. I don’t want you to see this.  3 year olds have toys. They are small. They multiply every time I walk out of the room.  Here are 42 of their precious toys.  Did I mention they multiply?  Just – save me the embarrassment. Call first.

Day 13 – Pleasure

There are so many simple pleasures in life.  When I sat down to write this post, I had no idea what I would photograph.

    • The sun that shines on your face around 6pm.  When it is low in the sky and warming your cheeks.
    • The beauty of a breeze on a spring morning.
    • 600 thread count sheets. And the thrill of sliding between them after a hard day.
    • A cold Pepsi on a hot day.
    • Driving a convertible with all the windows rolled down and the music turned up.  By. Myself.
    • Oh! Miller Light. Ice Cold. From a Bottle. In July.
    • Sliding into pants you couldn’t fit into last month.IMG_1834[1]
    • Custard filled doughnuts with chocolate icing… and crapichino from Sheetz
    • Listening to Alexander squawk as he learns new sounds.
    • Teaching the twins that holding hands is our secret code for “I love you.”
    • Snuggling with all three kids on the living room recliner.
    • Watching my husband build a tree house for the kids. With a broken foot….
    • Rolling over in the middle of the night, and knowing that he will be there.
    • Holding his hand when something is bothering me.
    • Watching my husband research his newest project – so it can be just right.
    • Pleasure – is spending every day with the man you love and the babies you created together.

Day 12 – FEAR

If you read my blog regularly … you know I have many fears.  If you are new… you can venture to my the fears of my heart HERE or HERE or HERE.

But, honestly – I just cannot go there tonight.

I have other fears.  I fear a professional meeting with a crap hanging out of my nose.

I also fear this:

IMG_1825[1]

Yes, I don’t even have the courage to use a real life example.  One of my biggest fears is teaching with my zipper open or toilet paper hanging out of my pants.  I decided to combine the two.  The doll baby doesn’t mind.

What would you put down for fear?
